Frontal Hair Transplant for 64 Year Old Patient

This 64-year-old male patient presented as a Norwood 6 hair loss classification. He began his hair loss in his twenties and decided he wanted to restore his hair, but only if it was his only own growing hair and looked natural for his age. After consultation with Dr. Rogers, it was decided to transplant approximately 1,700 hair grafts and create a natural, mature hairline, and just treat the front half of his scalp.

During his surgery, Dr. Rogers performed a FUT donor strip procedure. Her medical techs dissected the strip under a microscope and had 1,708 hair grafts, sorted into 1-4 hair grafts.

He also started taking oral finasteride 1mg daily and oral minoxidil 2.5mg daily for hair maintenance and to thicken his midscalp bridge.

Over the course of a year, his hair grew in nicely over the front and the medications helped fill in his crown. The patient was very happy with the result and expressed his amazement at how easy recovery was, and that although friends and colleagues perceived he looked younger, he did not realize it was his new hair!
