Hair Transplant and Combination Medical Hair Loss Therapy

If medical therapy is an option, Dr. Rogers will always offer therapy options to her patients first. If the results do not achieve the patient’s cosmetic goals, she will discuss surgical alternatives.  In the case of this 34-year-old male, he experienced minor hairline recession and hair loss in the crown. When he came in for his first consultation, he was already taking oral finasteride 1mg daily for several years, but his hair loss still slowly progressed. Dr. Rogers suggested adding low-dose oral minoxidil 2.5mg daily to enhance the effectiveness of the medical therapy. After two more years of this combined therapy, he opted to move forward with hair transplant surgery to reestablish his hairline and add central density.

Dr. Rogers transplanted 1,607 grafts into his anterior crown and bitemporal recessions.

He has been thrilled with his results and even had the confidence to change careers with his new hair!

Over the years of medical therapy, his crown hair thickened.
