NW 6 Hair Loss – FUT Hair Transplant of Frontal Scalp
This 48-year-old male was referred by his dermatologist to Dr. Rogers for hair restoration surgery. He had previously taken finasteride 1mg and used topical minoxidil 4 years prior, but discontinued them because of disappointing results. He presented as a Norwood 6 hair loss classification. With such significant hair loss, Dr. Rogers suggested a conservative approach, focusing the hair transplant on the front half of his scalp. She also suggested moving him to dutasteride 0.5 mg daily (off-label for hair loss but preferred for its greater efficacy in suppressing DHT), as well as oral minoxidil 2.5mg daily (also off-label for MPHL but can be more effective than topical).

On the day of surgery, Dr. Rogers performed an FUT donor strip harvest, and her medical technicians dissected 1,652 one to four-hair grafts for transplantation. The patient tolerated the procedure well, and the transplanted hair healed and regrew on schedule.

The after photos were taken during his 12-month follow-up visit. He expressed his excitement with his new hair and his hair transformation. He remains on the combination medical therapy to preserve his existing hair and to enhance the growth of his transplanted hair.
