Case Study: Hair Loss Treatment for Young Male

Approximately 2 years ago at the age of 23 this patient presented himself at consultation with early onset male pattern hair loss (MPHL).

23 year old before treatment – Significant frontal hair loss and central thinning.

By age 25 hair loss had thickened but improvement had leveled off.

The initial treatment was generic 5 mg finasteride, 1/4 pill daily and topical 5% minoxidil solution. Oral dutasteride was added two years later when the patient felt like he was losing ground. He has since been successfully stabilized on the combination regimen of finasteride 5mg 1/4 pill daily, dutasteride .5mg weekly, and topical minoxidil 5% solution twice daily, as shown in the third photo.

6 months after adding duasteride 5mg weekly to the regimen, hair thickened further including the frontal hairline..
